BES Homeroom Captains support classes by helping teachers with classroom events and facilitating communication between the teacher, PTO, and families.
Duties
Connect with your teacher
Reach out to your teacher to get to know him or her, what he/she expects from you, and how they’d like to meet/connect throughout the year.
Parent and teacher communications throughout the year
As homeroom captain, it’s your job to communicate with parents in the class about a variety of things class- and PTO-related.
Class party plannign and organization
Help to coordinate party donations (snacks, drinks, games, crafts, decor, etc.) depending on communication with the teacher.
Class projects, field trips, and special events
Classes may have special projects, field trips, and special events that may require help from the homeroom captain.
Volunteer Recruitment
Being the homeroom captain doesn’t mean you need to do it all alone. As the homeroom captain, you can ask for volunteers to help with various projects.
PTO Communications
Stay in touch with the PTO and attend PTO meetings when possible to share your classrooms interests and needs.
